Machine Translations
We take advantage of the best machine translation tools available to help assure that our clients get the best possible machine translations available. While machine translation is not suitable for certified translations, it can be a powerful tool to reduce the costs and time involved in reviewing foreign language documents, files, records, email, etc.
Electronic discovery has taught us the value of reducing the data set prior to review. Foreign language documents deserve equal treatment in this important pre-cull process. Too often, foreign language material is either:
- Left un-translated, creating data errors during processing, or
- Parsed out and receives a different level of treatment.
Depending on the source languages and a host of other variables, machine translations can vary in quality. However, they should, at very least, be good enough to determine that a large percentage of the collection is either:
- potentially relevant or privileged
- non-responsive, non-relevant, non-priv, or junk.
This is crucial to controlling costs in translation as large portions of foreign language material can be culled out prior to the more expensive processes of translating, coding and multilingual review.

Foreign Language Search Terms
If you already have the ability to search in other languages, we can provide translations of your English search terms to ensure that you don’t miss anything within the foreign languages of your collection.
